Brandon Sookhoo is a student at York College (CUNY) in Jamaica, Queens. His major is English with a literature emphasis and an Education minor. Brandon’s academic interests include digital humanities, digital pedagogy, early modern literature and culture, as well as African American literature.
Brandon is currently in his final semester at York College. He aims to further his studies in literature and digital humanities in graduate school. Brandon hopes to explore the connection between literature and the quest for identity, freedom, justice, equality, and dignity.
At York College, he is currently enrolled in Teaching With Multimedia Technology, which aims to teach future educators the foundations of multimedia technology in the classroom and students design curriculum integrating technology. A wide array of multimedia projects are implemented. Taking this course, Brandon hopes to gain knowledge on how different learning methods impact the technology integration in the classroom. As a student, Brandon believes this is a great way to visualize instruction given by an instructor. Technology continues to become a prominent component in society including the classroom. That being said, technology should be incorporated in the development of lesson plans and curriculum design. Equally important, is the teacher because without a teacher how will one learn. As an educator, Brandon plans to use the Technology Integration Matrix to enhance his students learning. This will make students learn in the classroom but also prepare them for real life scenarios and applications. As Malcolm X said “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”
